Since there are thousands of multivitamin supplements claiming to be the best vitamin, how on earth are we supposed to know if we are doing our body a favor? Dietary supplements are not regulated. Know what you’re getting.

Are you taking a natural or synthetic vitamin?

If it comes from the grocery, or drug store, chances are you have a synthetic product. You really do get what you pay for, and it’s usually not very healthy. Think “smart nutrition“. Most of the synthetic ingredients come from overseas. There’s no quality assurance there. Need we say more?

Despite what some will tell you, synthetic nutrients created in a lab cannot measure up to the thousands of organic compounds found in our food that have nutritional significance. Our body does actually know the difference.

Comparing ingredients in vitamin supplements

Be aware that the way the potency of supplements may be represented can be very misleading. The synergy of the ingredients and how well they work together is something that is addressed by the manufacturer and passed on to you. Research the company that manufactures your vitamin products, so you have trust in what they pass along to you.

Then you need to be concerned about the potency of the supplements. Have they been tested to contain the amount and potency that is listed? The best vitamin for you will be glad to brag about testing, manufacturing methods, and integrity. Lack of synthetic ingredients, fillers, and binders, will be listed on the product. You will want to avoid preservatives, starches, and sugars.

You will run across vitamin products containing antioxidants, and phytonutrients. They will be listed on the label. You may benefit from proprietary blends of herbal vitamins that include digestive enzymes, herbs, and whole-food blends of vitamins, that are specifically blended for males or females at certain life stages.

Proper absorption in the best multivitamin

A type of capsule that dissolves completely is the preferred vegetable capsule or gelatin capsule. This way, you can be sure to avoid the type of supplement known as the “bedpan bullet” that all hospital personnel speaks of.

Some supplements may have a coating, called an enteric coating, which allows the supplement to make it through the stomach intact and be absorbed in the small intestine, where proper absorption of nutrients occurs. Most of them that are simply sprayed on chemicals or plastics… so beware.

Minerals, Amino acids, should be chelated, which means they are attached to a protein and enhances their bioavailability by as much as 400%. Minerals, which may be just ground-up rocks, are difficult for your body to absorb. How absorbable, or bioavailable the nutrients are, is an important consideration. Do some quick research on which natural vitamin sources are best.

What should the best vitamin contain?

One thing to note is that one pill cannot contain it all. Calcium is a very important nutrient, and you will have to take a calcium supplement on its own because of its size. The same goes for fatty acids. You will need to take certain supplements on the side if you expect them to be effective.

For fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, you should avoid taking over 100% of the RDA in most cases, because of the possibility that these vitamins can be stored in the body more easily than water-soluble vitamins.

How many capsules are you taking?

It would be hard to put everything your body needs daily into one capsule. The number of capsules needed daily for a single dose is a good indication of the quality of nutrients. One capsule cannot contain all a “best multivitamin” should contain.

We run across those that say, “I get all my vitamins from food”. This could be true 50 years ago, perhaps. But now, because of our poor soils, foods don’t have the vitamins and minerals that they had 40 or 50 years ago.

And, do your best to eat whole foods that contain thousands of phytonutrients that companies cannot bottle, instead of using supplements.

Can Vitamin C Prevent Flu?

Vitamin C is a natural antioxidant and immune system booster. It’s not expensive. It’s safe for everyone. And children can chew it. Ascorbic Palmitate is the form of vitamin C most used in skincare. Look for skincare that contains various forms of vitamin C that support collagen synthesis and are more shelf-stable than L-ascorbic acid.

Linus Pauling’s Vitamin C Studies

 Linus Pauling, the greatest ever American scientist, claimed that high doses of vitamin C (also known as L-ascorbic acid) can cure many diseases, including heart disease, cancer, and infections. He won two undivided Nobel Prizes: the first one for chemistry (1954) and the second – for peace (1962). 

In fact, humans lost their ability to synthesize vitamin C in their bodies since the gene for its production has mutated and is no longer functioning. This discovery was first published in his article “Sickle Cell Anemia, a Molecular Disease” (1949). He explained his studies and discoveries in his books “Vitamin C and the Common Cold” (1970), “Vitamin C and Cancer” (1979), and “How to Live Longer and Feel Better” (1986).

Pauling believed that modern meat-based diets caused vitamin C deficiency and widespread illnesses and the flu, in particular. In his books, he recommended a vitamin C intake of 2,300mg per day or more for “optimum” health.

In Memory of My Mother

The transition from this world to other worlds is still a mystery…

In this article, I describe my amazing mystical experience of contact with the soul of my mother before she left this physical world.

The day before my mother passed away, I was sitting in front of my laptop. I felt sad because I haven’t seen my mother for three days after my last visit. She broke her leg and could not walk. This was the second time she broke her leg a year after the first. She did not speak and was sleeping most of the time. She almost stopped eating. I tried to feed her, but she could not swallow the soup I made for her. 

I felt sad and helpless the last time I visited her. I shouted “Mama” in her ear and she answered “mmm” without opening her eyes. I repeated “Mama” again and she answered “mmm” again. She could hear me but could not open her eyes and speak. My brother said that her condition was similar to that before a coma.

When I was leaving, I kissed her forehead.  I said goodbye to her, as I felt that saw her for the last time. It was a strange feeling…

Farewell of my Mother

That evening I was sitting alone in front of my laptop. Gradually, I felt a light sweet scent that enveloped me from all sides. I couldn’t understand where the smell was coming from. Somehow, I felt my mother’s presence next to me. I started talking to her, asking for forgiveness for the pain I might have caused her.

The next morning I was told that my dear mother had passed away. I didn’t feel anything. Like a robot, I got dressed and went to my brother’s house. The house was filled with people, mostly my mater’s relatives who had come from the north. I entered my mother’s room and felt a sweet scent enveloping the room. I recognized this smell, it was the same smell that I had felt the day before at home.

Later I realized that my mother came to me that evening to say goodbye. Yes, it was so much like her. She did it because she loved and cared for me so much. She didn’t tell me this, but I felt it without words. 

All I wanted at that moment and in the following days was to be alone with my grief and with the thoughts of my mother.

Forty Days Later

It was about the fortieth day after my mother passed away. It was late evening when I heard a strange sound outside. It was a plaintive cry similar to a kitten’s meow. I came over the window to look outside, but it was already too dark. The sound was coming from the branches of a nearby tree. I figured it might be a bat (I never hear it’s sound), because the birds should have been asleep at this late hour. 

Suddenly I saw on the branches of a tree a creature that looked like a bat or a bird, which was making this strange sound. Several times she flew up to the window, near which I stood, flapping white wings, which I could see well in the dark, and screamed piteously. Then I thought it was a bird. I thought she had a nest on a tree branch and she tried to scare away our cat, which was sitting on the windowsill.

Then my inner voice told me that my mother’s soul had come to say goodbye to me. I spoke to her from the window. “My beloved mother. We are fine. Please don’t worry about us. I miss you”. The bird flew up to our window several times and screamed for some time. I stood by the window and talked to my mother. I told my son, who was sitting next to me, about this, but he did not believe it. 

I have never seen this mysterious bird with its plaintive cry again…

The Source of Happiness – Real Happiness is Within


“There is no happiness at all in any of the objects of the world. There is not an iota of happiness in objects, because they are insentient. Even the sensual pleasure is a reflection of the Atmic bliss only. It is sheer ignorance to think that we derive any pleasure from the sense-objects or from the mind.

Real happiness is within you. It is in the Atman. It is subjective. It manifests when the mind is concentrated. When the Indriyas are withdrawn from the objects outside when the mind is one-pointed when there are Vasana-kshya and Manonasa when you become desireless and thoughtless, Atmic bliss begins to dawn, spiritual Ananda begins to thrill”.

What is Happiness?

After reading the definition of happiness by Sri Swami Sivananda, I decided to invite Lisa, a teacher of Transcendental Meditation (TM), to explain how ancient Vedic spiritual knowledge explains Happiness.

Lisa: “I read your quote from Sri Shwama Sivananda about Happiness and would like to say that, of course, there is no happiness in the objects themselves. However, we are happy if these objects can satisfy our needs, such as the need for beauty or comfort, and we can enjoy them. It is natural to have a desire to be happy by any means, because this is how nature created people: to strive for more and more happiness, love, strength, energy, wealth, etc. Unfortunately, we can feel happiness temporarily, because this state of mind can be disturbed by any negative events. We can lose all the objects that we like.

Vedic spiritual knowledge says that we should focus our minds on the source of happiness, which allows us to always be happy. The source of all happiness and energy is the Unified Field; in Vedic literature, it has many other names. The Unified Field Theory was recently developed by modern physics. We cannot experience existence in this Field through intellectual practice, books, or discussions. The only way to gain spiritual knowledge is through other people who are highly spiritually developed, and through training (techniques).”

Transcendental Meditation

Lisa: “In Vedic knowledge, most Teachers (Gurus) lived in ashrams in the Himalayas, and they used meditation to develop their Consciousness. I personally use TM (the Transcendental Meditation) as a TM Teacher. This technique is very easy to master and perform, and it does not require a concentration of the mind. Some other methods use concentration, but it is very difficult to do and not so effective.


There were many spiritual societies that spread their spiritual knowledge and used many different techniques. For example, Sufi societies used art, mainly dancing and storytelling, as well as hypnosis. Remember the tales of dervishes — strange people wandering from one place to another in poor clothes and telling funny stories. They were talking about spiritual knowledge in a secret form that ordinary people could not understand.

Only a devoted Sufi could understand another Sufi. All medieval poets were Sufis in this region. Not many people know that the philosopher, scientist, and poet of the 11th century Omar Khayyam was not a drinker or a womanizer. When he wrote poems full of deep philosophical thoughts in an allegorical way about wine, love, friendship, the meaning of life, he shared his spiritual knowledge. I recommend you to read the books of Omar Khayyam. I am sure you will enjoy them. I think that love of art is much more beneficial for your spirituality than any other philosophy.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi believed that in a single brushstroke of an artist there is more Pure Consciousness (in modern terms of the Unified Field) than in the books of many scientists. He meant that through art we can achieve this Field faster than through intellectual thinking. I would like to recommend his book, “The Art of Life and Being,” because it contains very practical and gentle advice for everyone. ”

However, we are taught that intellectual knowledge is the main source of success in our society. Not surprisingly, some consider intellectual knowledge to be the highest and more advanced way to achieve Pure Consciousness.

Is there a contradiction between the mind and the senses? I personally believe that a connection with a spiritually developed person, a Teacher, can give a great advantage in learning spiritual knowledge. Can we consider the person with whom we feel a spiritual connection, a potential Teacher?

Spiritual Teacher

Lisa: “Regarding your first question: there is no contradiction since the mind and the senses play their own role in spiritual development. It is the senses that allow us to enjoy art and beauty and can lead to Pure Consciousness. The deepest level of intellectual satisfaction can do this as well. But regular training through meditation is considered very important, allowing us to touch this level on a regular basis and install the mind at that level forever. This means that we can achieve Cosmic Consciousness so that it will never be disturbed.

There is the greatest way to achieve Pure Consciousness: through another highly spiritually developed person. It can be a Guru whom you respect and trust, or your parent or friend. We cannot know the level of spirituality of other people, as there are no signs to determine this.”

Role of Family

Lisa: “But if you feel connected with a person, it is much easier to learn from that person, because love and friendship create energy flows from one person to another. For this reason, the Vedic tradition says that living in a family is even better for development than living in an ashram alone. If the family creates a favorable environment for spiritual development, all members of the family can achieve a high level of spirituality.”

Although the current guidelines for diabetes mellitus treatment regarding the consumption of 45-65% of carbohydrate calories are starting to change, many practitioners still give old advice. The simple fact is that carbohydrate intake causes an increase in blood sugar. As blood sugar rises, more medication and insulin are needed to lower it.

Chronic high blood sugar also leads to tragic and in many cases unnecessary health complications. In contrast, a ketogenic diet reduces and in many cases eliminates the need for diabetic medication and reduces the number of units of insulin needed to regulate blood sugar.

Ketogenic Diets Can Improve Other Health Issues 

In addition, there is a lot of scientific evidence that the following conditions can also be changed or significantly improved with a keto diet:

  • Insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and prediabetes: these conditions are directly related to the effects of chronically high blood sugar and insulin, leading to insulin resistance (IR). Research has shown that very low-carb diets can lower thyroid hormone levels, specifically T3, the most metabolically active form of thyroid hormone in the body.
